South-Central Utah. 2023
The golden fall colors of cottonwood trees glow during twilight in southern Utah. In the distance, you can see the Utah Badlands creep into the scene. This was during the 2023 autumn season here in the Capitol Reef region. I spent weeks out photographing and hiking into new zones I had yet been to. This scene was a great one to discover. High up on a mesa of sorts, just as twilight was approaching, it was silent, just the distant sound of running water and the slight breeze. The Utah Badlands are made of the same formations that the Moonscape Overlook and Factory Butte outside of Hanksville and Torrey.
