Cottonwood

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. 2022

Winter season and fresh snowfall in the canyons of Capitol Reef National Park. The fresh white snow had landed on each branch of the cottonwood trees. The stark-whiteness seemed to be illuminated by sunlight even though it was an overcasted day. It isn't all that often that Capitol Reef receives snow. When it happens you can likely find me in the park stopping along the roads and walking the Fremont River in order to find nice subject matter. Photographing Capitol Reef in winter is extremely fleeting. Only lasting a few hours at most. Once the sun comes out all bets are off. The snow melts as soon as you raise your camera to your eye.
