A dancing cottonwood sways in the shadows of a 500+ foot cliff face that is scarred in desert varnish. This scene instantly drew me in. I worked with four or so trees, which were silhouetted against this sandstone cliff face. The beauty was striking, as was the contrast and sway of these trees. This was the beginning of a four-day backpacking trip in a stunning and large canyon in Utah's canyon country. Each year I dedicate a few days to spend in the silence of these stunning canyons. Each year reveals a new canyon, with every bend as interesting as the last.
