Whitefish Mountain, Montana. 2021

Dense fog, extremely cold conditions, moisture and snow creates this phenomenal called Hoar Frost. Which then creates something called Snow-Ghosts; when trees get caked in snow, and essentially ice due to the extremely cold conditions in fog, caking the trees in ice. I took the ski lift onto of Whitefish Mountain to photograph this, which is the first time I have ever witnessed this. I was amazed. The fog this day was very dense, resulting in an almost contrast-less scene. Making snowboarding and photographing very difficult. But photographing was a hoot! Though difficult. I worked through many scenes this morning, this one being my favorite of the day. I loved the soft curves of snow, the subtle contrast and whiteness of it all. Whitefish Mountain is a beautiful place. which is also a ski resort. Which makes this very accessible.
