Winter ScenesBackcountry
Whitefish Mountain, Montana.
I ventured off the Whitefish Ski Resort via splitboard, into the backcountry forest. After hours of maneuvering through dense woods and gaining elevation, this mountain face came into view. Red-like light of sunset was moving across the landscape, casting contrasting shadows of the trees across an otherwise pristine and white landscape.
The snow, which is pristine, without a single track, besides for a recent avalanche, really shows the variety of color and contrast that the scene was moving through; sunset light moving down the mountain being followed by shadows created by clouds, showing blues to reds and greens. A scene I was instantly in love with. Right after this, not being extremely familiar with where I was and having to ride down the mountain then hike up to my house, I decided to get the hell out of here before darkness and the incoming snow storm settled in. I made my move and got home wearing a headlamp.
