Beavers Creation

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. 2026

A beaver took this very mature cottonwood tree out and it dumped itself right into the Fremont River in Capitol Reef National Park. I have been photographing here very frequently, but winter went by, warm temperatures and in that time a beaver had gone to town; chopping down dozens of trees. This spot was once very hidden, unseen from the road or travelers, after this, a direct view to all who drive or walk near. This tree has made quite a nice subject matter, showcasing the contrast of static and motion in natural objects. I have worked this scene over and over, though I missed it when the leaves were still on, somehow the leaves regrew in spring. But I did miss that opportunity. This was very enjoyable to work with.
