Tall pine trunks rise above a rocky, snow-covered forest floor as windblown snow streaks diagonally through green branches, partially obscuring the trees behind them.
Winter Scenes

Blizzard

Fishlake National Forest, Utah. 2024

Driving over Boulder Mountain - I was in and out of heavy clouds with snow all around. I was just in warm sunlight hiking slot canyons two hours before this moment. As I lost elevation, heading home to Torrey, UT. I came to this stand of mature Ponderosa Pine Trees. A stand of trees I have photographed a dozen times. Though this time was different. The sideways blowing snow, the sun barely making its way through the low clouds gave this scene exaclty what it needed. The light was soft, highlighting the right side of these trees. Giving a soft glowing effect. I was amazed - absolutely amazed.
