Southwest DesertCactus Sun
Zion National Park, Utah. 2019
A beautiful cactus thrives throughout the spring storms moving through Zion National Park, Utah. This cactus, soon to be flowering, resides in the presense of an old wildfire area, showcasing crispy, dead trees through the landscape. Above the burn, is the stunning and massive red and orange sandstone canyons of Zion National Park.
This spring was one of the wettest springs in Southern Utah history, with rain coming in every day for about a month straight. This resulted in extremely punctual greens, flowers and plant life thriving. On this particular day, which was one of those, as shown is a passing storm, clouds were fairly heavy, resulting in contrast of light and shadow, revealing the color and height of the cliffs while the foreground and middle ground resided in shadows.
