IcelandCircadian Rhythm
Glacier Lagoon, Iceland. 2022
Patience, insight and patience.
This was a day that I let everything come to me, not forcing a single little thing. This is how I photograph 90% of the time, which was just what I needed after visiting the same area for the 7th time in two weeks.
I paid close attention to detail, to light, and to the sound and smell of the landscape I was happily in.
My favorite thing about photography is being present—very present—and allowing the landscape to talk to me. I could not be happier in this state of awareness. It is bliss; it is peace. I sat and watched the subtleties of the light grow and fade in intensity, paying attention to how it was effecting the surface of the icebergs.
A slight fog and denseness of clouds slowly formed in the distance, and while this was forming, that subtle light came back in, reflecting off of these icebergs. I photographed this scene with the idea of keeping it simple, not to push the brightness, and to allow the texture and subtle details to tell the story.
