Southwest Desert

Least Resistance

Spending a few nights in this beautiful canyon with good friends was a refreshing experience, especially in spring when new life awakens after a long winter. Having visited this canyon during winter and fall, seeing it burst into springtime greenery was a true delight. Fresh buds and vibrant green leaves adorned the trees and plants, bringing color and renewed energy to the rugged landscape. After months of muted tones and cold weather, this season’s arrival felt like a celebration of nature’s resilience and cyclical beauty. Backpacking through Canyon Country in spring offers a unique opportunity to witness this transformation firsthand, blending solitude with the joy of reconnecting to the land as it comes alive. These moments of renewal remind me why I keep returning to Utah’s wild places, season after season.
