Southwest DesertAmong Alpine
Nestled among rugged cliffs, striking sandstone formations, and a quiet juniper forest lies a hidden gem rarely seen by visitors.
These remote cliffs, tucked away in Southern Utah, remain largely undiscovered—hidden in plain sight. Always on the lookout for landscapes off the beaten path, I was thrilled to stumble upon this scene, which became not only a campsite but a favorite return destination. Captured at sunset, the image showcases snowcapped peaks of the Henry Mountains glowing warmly alongside the illuminated cliffs, creating a breathtaking interplay of light and shadow.
This secluded spot perfectly embodies the solitude and raw beauty that draws photographers and adventurers to Southern Utah’s backcountry. It’s also one of the special locations where I guide and instruct photo tours and workshops, sharing this unique landscape with others eager to connect with nature’s quiet grandeur.
