Death Valley

Daydream

Death Valley National Park, California. 2023

Cool, soft and varying tones of Sand Dunes a bit deep into the off-roading backcountry of Death Valley. These are the Eureka Dunes. Placed between two large mountains, surrendering these dunes to live in this valley for the end of time. I really love sand dunes, the sand consumes whatever light is present and makes it its own. If there a colorful sky of red, the dunes turn red, in twilight, they take on those cool tones. The soft variation of colors here, with the nice lines is what drew me into this scene. One that I really liked from the moment I created it. These dunes, somewhat of a drive to get to, though on this trip, the four of us road adventure dual sport dirt bikes into this area and camped for a night. As evening approached we rode over to the closest point which legal and walked the rest of the way. As the sun dropped, myself and Seth Hamel stayed to photograph the dunes in twilight light. Which is always a good idea. Except for riding a dirt bike in the dark through very deep sand, especially when you (I) have not ridden a dirt bike in 6+ years. But it happened and I made it, barely. We ended up riding 500 miles in 5 days. Some of the most enjoyable 5 days of my life.
