Golden Castle

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

The golden hues of autumn in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. My home. Even though there were no clouds, I noticed the subtleties of the light. For instance, the light was on a massive sandstone cliff to the right of me, that light was reflecting down onto the landscape and cottonwoods. Because of this, I photographed this scene intently. Showcasing the subtle light, as well as the golden cottonwood trees along side Sulphur Creek. Above this all, as the main subject stands The Castle. One of the most prominent features in Capitol Reef National Park. Every line, color, and feature in this image is lined up to create a sense of motion, depth and height. And as you scan through this image, you will always end up at The Castle. Starting below along the Sulphur Creek, along the Cottonwoods, and upward to the prominent feature; The Castle. This was taken a few days before my annual Capitol Reef Fall Photography Workshop.
