Factory Butte, Utah. 2019

Factory Butte stands tall amongst the field of small yellow flowers that carpet the desert floor. During this super-bloom that took place in 2019, myself and photographer Seth Hamel, owner of Enlighten Photography Excursions, spent four days out here photographing and exploring the Caneville and Hanksville areas. The amount of flowers were stunning and one that will never be forgotten. The Factory Butte area is one that feels like another planet, and if you throw flowers into the mix, it enhances that 10x fold. During our time here in 2019, we spent our mornings and evenings photographing Factory Butte and Moonscape Overlook. This was taken during the late morning with some really nice clouds on the horizon, which lent dappled light throughout the scene. This softens light, shadows areas and highlights others. When you use this light to your advantage, you can time it right where you place the light on your subject, in this case, the Butte and allow the shadows to fall accordingly.
