Jelly Fish

Iceland, Ice Caves, 2022

The moment I saw this scene, I was completely enamored by it! I was not going to leave this spot until I felt I had made something unique and thought-provoking. This scene resulted in many feelings of emotion and wonder. My initial thoughts were that this was a jellyfish swimming out of the darkness and into the light. But as I worked with the scene, I began to see the similarities of myself moving from darkness into light in varying degrees throughout my life. And this compiled into deeper thoughts. Seeing is a gift but it is something that needs to be learned. It sounds contrary to the statement but it is true to me. When you begin to learn to see, this will take you in many directions, some you could see coming and some not so. When this takes you down a path of connecting with a scene in such a way that you become emotional or it hits you hard and you have an epiphany or a life-changing point of view, for the better good of yourself, the world opens up as your teacher.
