Southwest DesertKeninsava
Zion National Park, Utah. 2019
Heavy rains and small flakes of snow lasted all night long. Each low spot in the dirt, roads, trails and sandstone had risidual water filled to the brim. One of those days that the desert emanates the smells of a wet and punctual in flavor. Juniper, sage, black brush, pinyon pine and wet sand and sandstone. No better smell in the world if you ask me.
This is a scene of Mt. Keninsava near Zion National Park, Utah. This sandstone mountain is just after leaving the town of Rockville and before you enter Springville, the doorway to Zion.
This spring was one of the wettest springs on record. and one that I was lucky enough to have a front seat at watching. I was living in a camper at the time, with no running water or air conditioning, out on BLM land near Virgin, Utah. This spring was a god-send. Because the camper got hot quickly, too quickly.
