Moonscape

Black Sand Beach, Iceland. 2022

A lunar landscape on the black sand beaches of Icelands coasts. This scene spoke to me, calling gout a lunar, interstellar feeling and I ran with it. The scene was only possible because of the glaciers calving off in low-tide, being pulled to the ocean then the waves pushing the ice back onto the black sand beaches. Doubling that with frigid cold temperatures, allowing frost and ice to freeze onto of the black sand. What a wild world we live in. This was created during an Iceland Photography Workshop I did with my buddy Seth Hamel. Seth and I spent about 18 days in Iceland leading two separate groups of photographers throughout the country. Man was it good! We photographed ice caves, black sand beaches, glaciers, icebergs, waterfalls, mountains and so much more. What an absolute treat this was!
