Iceland, Ice Cave, 2022

These ice caves were truly spectacular. Really, every aspect of being in these caves, big or small, was a surreal experience. a never-ending playtime. This was the entrance to this particular ice cave. It was about nine-feet tall and ten-feet wide. It was a clear blue sky outside which is precisely what you want when in these caves. This allows sunlight to penetrate the ice and lend those green, yellows and blue colors you see here. This was the first of two ice caves we photographed during the two-week-long workshop in Iceland. In the span of one week, this cave became unstable and no guides were then leading trips into it. As the guide who led us into each cave, he mentioned that these caves do not last long, that each cave is vastly different from the last, and that the short-lived ice makes for an overall great experience.
