Shall Not Pass

Remote Badlands, Utah.

This is a location I tried to visit time and time again. It was only on the third attempt that I was able to make it to the pin on my Gaia GPS map. An area I had researched via google earth. The first attempt to get here, we got a 4Runner stuck for hours, a too close for comfort kind of stuck. The second, even on motorcycles, the road was impassable. But the third attempt was the one, my buddy Seth Hamel and I spent hours throwing rocks and small boulders into a ravine, building a "rock bridge" that allowed us to eventually make it across the first of many obstacles. But before long we were standing here, camping here and eating dinner here. And damn, our minds were blown by the immense beauty and vastness of the area. I genuinely believe we are the only people on this earth that have photographed this area, with an actual camera. I do think some old-school farmers have came across this area and have likely taken a photo with their flip-phones. Or maybe not. Either way, this is a phenomenal area that we just took a group of 6 photographers to on our Utah Wilderness Workshop 2026.
