Pale, weathered branches curve across a dark forest floor scattered with pine cones, needles, and bark, viewed directly from above in cool blue tones that emphasize the rough wood and layered textures.
Intimate Scenes

Shedding

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. 2024

On an absolute frigid morning, near the rim of Bryce Canyon National Park, I was leading a multi-day winter workshop. We were all in the warmest clothing we had and the temperatures were around 0 degrees fahrenheit. Everything was coated in frost. This scene grabbed my attention. The two small dead branches have been lying here for years. They lost any kind of color and were now a white color among the pine cones that surrounded them. This scene reminds me of antlers or bones that have been left in the sun for a handful of years. I really do enjoy this scene and one I am happy with.
