So It Begins

Lee Flat, Death Valley National Park, California. 2025

On early morning and a very cold one, I rode my dirt bike 10 minuntes and hiked over to this hill-side in Death Valley National Park. I stood on this hill overlooking miles of mountains and Joshua Trees in the Lee Flat area. The mountains went on, the undulating hills rolled up and down, varying in elevation. The Joshua Trees covered most of the land, appearing as tiny specks the farther out into the landscape you look. Sunrise was cold. Somewhere in the low 30's. I did not expect that. Though I was prepared for it. my hands were numb just moments into riding before the sun rose. My feet were not far behind. Though the hike warmed my bones and I moved through Joshua Trees, boulders and bushes. Sunrise was a pleasant surprise; with no clouds, it was all about layering, Joshua Trees, light and the feeling of being present.
