Two irregular pieces of translucent ice rest on black sand, arranged diagonally across the frame as pale, blurred seawater sweeps around their textured surfaces in cool blue-gray tones.

Diamond Beach, Iceland. 2022

Heading into orbit after blast off. This scene was a fun one to work with. I remember the exact moment standing on Diamond Beach in Iceland of 2022. The temperatures were getting so damn cold the lagoon was freezing and all the moisture in the sand was freezing. But this scene made me forget all about those temperatures. The two different angles of ice, pointing in varying directions, while water from the waves crashed nearby. I gave a slower shutter speed to catch what will be perceived as speed, almost an explosion in order to give the idea of blast-off. A rocket blasting into outer space.
