A close-up of translucent ice reveals overlapping curved ridges and scalloped hollows, with warm golden light across the left side contrasting with deep blue reflections and dark crevices on the right.
Iceland

Special Polish

Ice-fields, Iceland. 2022

Polished ice patterns and colors of an ice-field. This section of ice dropped down into a quite scary and dark looking hole in the ground. A section I did not want to get close to, at all. That dark hole spelt death in my mind. The ice-cave we eventually went in to looked somewhat similar, but the local guides carved steps into the "dark hole", not so dark, and the created an easy path in. On the way in, you could see many small canyons formed to the right and left of the main entrance of the ice cave. Upon entering, you could see formations such as the one shown everywhere. It really was something special.
