Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Utah. 2023.
Within this deep canyon reside this awesome tree. It was cyan/blue deep below and warm up high on the canyon wall. I began to examine this scene and move slowly around this clump of bare trees. Giving separation, hiding others and making sense of this semi-chaos. This entire backpacking trip was very enjoyable, even though I had come a week too late to catch the nice fall foliage hanging onto the trees. I spent most of my time photographing small scenes and looking for rock art that scattered fallen boulders and along the cliff sides.
