Thrown of Fire

High Uintas Wilderness, Utah. 2018

After 20 miles, mountain passes and a ton of rain and lightning, these scene unfolded on a beautiful evening. The last light illuminating this mountain, while the clouds above lit in the same fashion. This was undoubtedly a vast, wild landscape. And the High Uintas are known for their high-alpine, strange appearance in relation to all mountains that surround this range. On the fourth day, our hike out, was in a torrential downpour. The trail was more of a stream, better yet, a small river. There was no getting around that fact that you were going to be absolutely soaking wet. Though, I stopped under a tree and debated on throwing up the tarp of the tent in order to escape the rain for just a moment, but my buddy Sam takes sense in to me and told me to carry on. For the next 11 miles, we hiked and through that time, all of our gear was soaked. Thank god we had rain jackets with us and pack flies otherwise we would have been in trouble. We made it to the car and the rain stopped, the fog lifted and the first snow of the year was covering all the surrounding mountain peaks.
