Backpacking Canyon Country, Utah.
Young cottonwood trees stand in unison along a year-round river in a large sandstone canyon. This area is known as one of the most remote sections in the lower 48 states and for good reason. It takes a good long while to get here, and there are no cities within hours. I backpacked into this area and got cooked by blisters and extremely cold temperatures. For this scene, I woke early, made a fire to get warm after a night of shivering my ass off, and set off to photograph around camp. I came to this massive sandstone wall and worked with this scene of beautiful light, repeating patterns and simplicity. This was the only scene I worked with this morning and made it back to the fire to try and stay warm.
