Twilight Peaks

Lone Pine, Alabama Hills, California. 2020

This morning, I got up early, and watched the light come into the landscape, landing first on the 14,505ft tall peaks of Mt. Whitney. For this scene, I wanted to witness this area under twilight light, to see it before the golden sunrise began. And safe to say it was amazing. The glow was strong on Mt. Whitney, being 14,505ft tall, it makes sense why. But being down in this valley of the Alabama Hills, you felt tiny in comparison. I wanted to showcase the unique landscape of the Alabama Hills leading to the base of Mt. Whitney. The textures and colors of rock were stunning and I think this vertical image of the scene did pretty well, especially for my first time being in the area. When light did come in, It was a beautiful light that was much easier to see through my 300mm lens. The light began to dapple, moving around the mountain, as low clouds surrounding the peak were in just the right position for what I was hoping to see. The granite face was lit up in a golden hue, the shadows lay in a slight cool tone light where the snow resided. It all came together very quickly and was done not long after.
