Mountain Landscapes

Truly Wild

I backpacked into deep into those mountains, the day of this image. I was making a solo overnight trip, durning a series of rain and snowstorms. The wind would howl and calm down in a moments notice. But I was pumped to be on the trail. I have hiked back here many times before, leading groups here. But this was the first time doing it alone, and camping alone here. I have seen many moose and a few grizzly bears in this area, so I was on high-alert. This is the Two Medicine area of Glacier National Park, I was hiking to the Upper Medicine Lake. The mountain you see is Lone Walker Mountain. The night before this, the night I camped here, it has snowed on Lone Walker Mountain, leaving a fresh coat of white in the morning, you can see the remnants of that here. Upon getting my backpacking a message was passed down to me from the park ranger that there has been a bear or moose messing with the food container area at night. Thankfully, I never noticed. But I would on alert throughout the time being here.
