Sea of Life

When I awoke from bed, I could already see the glow from the pre-twilight light. The clouds were dim but bright in colors: orange and red, the sky was on fire! I woke up over an hour before sunrise and when you see this kind of color in the sky that early, you are in for a treat! I got all my things together and started hiking out my front door onto Whitefish Mountain Ski Resort to gain as much elevation as I could. When I got higher, the inversion below began to sway and move like a sea's tide, moving forward and backward, but this was morphing and changing every few seconds. I set up my tripod, put on my telephoto lens and began to get work. It may not seem like it, but no matter where I planted myself, trees were poking into the frame from below, the sides or above. It took time to find this particular spot, so I had free range to experiment and get creative. The clouds got bright, and that cloud color reflected onto the inversion of clouds, and I was absolutely mind-blown by the beauty that lay before me! I composed many images but this is the one that I particulalry enjoyed.
