Fire Story

Fires raged south and west of this spot. Which coincidentally, this scene had been through numerous fires in the past 80 years. For the most part, you can't see the prevailing smoke that consumed most of the landscape here, but it was ever-present. This was days into a week-long camping and photographing time, a time of reckoning with my own emotions. Time needed to be alone. This scene was fun and difficult to work with. There are so many random branches and trees and finding any vantage point is seriously an undertaking. I wanted to showcase the North Fork River, the colors of blue among the shades of yellow and green. And I succeeding in that regard. A slice of this landscape.
