Mountain Landscapes

Hopscotch

Hill-sides move from left to right then right to left as they weave around rivers and valleys until eventually leading to what is now Hungry Horse Reservoir in Northern Montana. The odd haze that came it seemed to be natural. There were no wildfires present, and it didn't smell like fires. So, I assume, after days of rain, It was a moisture caused haze rather then a smoke caused one. Either way, it created some nice atmosphere: showcasing the layers of mountains, layers, and forests. You a see the low, young trees, among the large trees which were in few numbers. Due to somehow recent wildfires, this larch tree covered landscape has been through an inferno and come out on the other side, still residing on this wild landscape. I spent about four days photographing and camping in this vast region. It was touch but stunning all at once. The views were hard to come by due to thick forests covering every ridge line and valley. Resulting in the rare sight of a large view such as this. Northern Montana's mountains and forests have that wild feeling deep within them. And when you are hiking among them, you can't help but feel just how this is true. Especially when you are alone for days out here, not seeing more then a couple of vehicle and seeing your fair share of large bear scat.
