Life Saving Springs

Moody Wilderness, Utah. 2022

On day two of our five day backpacking trip, we rounded a bend to see this stunning view. The spring was frozen with a slight sound of trickling water underneaths its surface. Each step was a question mark on whether we would fall in or slip onto our asses. Which all happened many times. We were navigating a maze of canyons that would lead in many different directions as many would dead-end to a 500-2,000 foot dryfall. Not long after this spot we began an ascent of over 1,000feet. Straight up a boulder field into a narrow canyon and each of us (3 of us) had to carabiner each backpack and hoist it up 4-5 cliffs of maybe 5-25 feet. It was an absolute blast with some skepticism and an integral part of this endeavor. You can see other images from this backpacking trip here on my site.
