Pale gray tree branches crisscross a pink rock face, with clusters of small green leaves and dangling seed pods forming a dense lattice against the stone’s rounded contours and cracks.

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. 2026

Days after days of photographing spring foliage, I happened to notice this fairly small scene on a large cottonwood tree placed near the Fremont River in Capitol Reef National Park, close to my home in Torrey. I loved the repetition of lines, colors, soft light and new green leaves. The color contrast was a special treat. There is something about the new green leaves that I am so drawn to. It the light, soft texture the color gives, almost neon-ish, a hint of yellow into the green. You can tell it's a form of life and that is something so engrained in us all that its in our DNA. I am offering fine-art prints of this scene and all of my work here in this gallery. Send an email or phone call if you have any questions.
