A quiet lake bordered by forest and trees.
Western Forests

Islands

I arrived just in time to watch the light fade onto these trees and across the vast landscape of forests and mountains. Holland Lake, located in the Swan Valley Range of Montana, is exceptionally beautiful. The number of lakes, rivers and mountains that surround you at any given moment is never a sight to take for granted. I hiked along the lake shore for a few hours, attempting to photograph the pines and furs that were present. Though nothing was really working,. I came to this spot and had an idea for a composition almost instantly. Once I framed up the composition, I knew it was going to work out just as I had hoped and imagined in my mind. I waited for the right light while making a few images. It was not until I got home to review the images that I realized that this was the one. I had other images that had light in the distant forests, high on a hill above Holland Lake, but this gave the simplicity needed to make a time-worthy photograph.
