Just outside of Glacier National Park is this very interesting mountain. Divide Mountain standing at Elevation: 8,665 ft.
The road felt almost wrong driving up to get here but dang was it pretty. All around the views were stunning. Looking back toward Saint Mary Lake of Glacier NP. Behind me was the road that leads out to Chief Mountain and to Many Glacier area. There was a lot to see from this one location, but the height you have above the aspens here, with the distant Divide Mountain, was where it was at!
The angled light of sunset coming in, the dappled light moving through the scene and subtle clouds above Divide Peak was all helpful in order to create an image worthy of this area.
I spent about a week out camping and photographing the fall colors surrounding and within Glacier National Park in hopes to put together a fall photography workshop here. Through that time I got to know the park even better then I had, as this was dedicated to fall colors. When you have an idea like this you're always looking to incorporate fall colors which takes you on trails and roads that you otherwise would not go on.
