Zion National Park, Utah – 2019

For weeks after sunset, during the magical twilight or blue hour, I dedicated myself to photographing Zion National Park in a way few get to experience. From the iconic Watchman formation to remote areas in East and West Zion, the evening glow was more intense than I had ever witnessed. This extraordinary light added a surreal quality to Zion’s dramatic cliffs and canyons, creating scenes of breathtaking depth and color. Interestingly, recent studies suggest that this heightened twilight glow was influenced by volcanic particles released during a major eruption in Russia, scattering light and intensifying the blue hour atmosphere worldwide. Capturing Zion’s beauty during this fleeting time became a creative journey, blending science and art in every frame. Twilight at Zion is a unique experience, revealing the park’s rugged features in a soft, ethereal light that continues to inspire photographers and adventurers alike.
