Autumn Colors

Trolls Hair

The tight-knitted Larch Trees on this mountainside were something I could not take my eyes off of. Even when I would leave this area, I would think of it. The trees were so dense, the colors varied from shades of green, yellow and orange. But the subtle' of it all is what really caught my attention. They weren't calling out for attention, they just had it inherently. Especially so in this very soft and diffused light, where the color and shapes could speak loudly without screaming. This area, after a wildfire years and years before, what came after the fire were millions of seedlings of Larches. Today, most of them stand just 10 feet tall. Though in due time, they will stand 50-100 feet tall. This zone, the Spotted Bear Wilderness, is truly wild; forests that go on for millions of acres, river systems, lakes, and literally hundreds of mountain peaks that surround you, as you stand in a low valley, surrounded.
