Service Berry

While taking a short walk through the Swift Creek trail system, I couldn’t help but notice these delicate flowers in bloom. I believe this is a serviceberry plant, standing about 20 feet tall beneath the towering larch trees that reach hundreds of feet into the sky. Their contrast—one small and fleeting, the other immense and enduring—perfectly captures the layered beauty of this forest. I have spent countless hours in and around this place, wandering through the quiet, breathing in the scent of the trees, and observing the way the light moves through the canopy. It’s a place that few people visit, tucked away and out of sight, making it all the more special. In time, I’ve built a deep connection with this forest. It has become more than just a location—it’s a familiar space, a retreat, and a reminder of why I am drawn to these wild and quiet places. Swift Creek Trail
