Autumn Colors

Last Frontier

I scouted for days to find some sort of vantage point over the North Fork River and in particular, this section of Birches that lined the river itself. They were so vibrant in color, and the river separating and coming back together, seamlessly and effortlessly. Moving through its path is intended. The life it gives to everything around is undeniable: golden forests, pines, flora and fauna. This is the Upper North Fork area of northern Montana. Just South of me is Polebridge; a quant "town" that has pastries coffee and much more. Their Bear Claws pastries to die for and everyone around here knows it. Though my focus wasn't on that, it never fully escaped my mind. Just north of here is the Canadian Border. To the east is Bowman Lake, Kintla Lakes and the mountains and glaciers above those lakes. I stayed in this region for a couple of days. A man who wrote the Path of the Puma; Jim Williams, described this as being the most wild place in the lower 48 states. Based off of the wildlife interactions they have with one another; wolf and bear, wolverine and deer, etc. I would say, I don't doubt this to be the case.
