Autumn ColorsRumination
Through days upon days of spending time in this region, I came to know it quite well. On this day, it was fast-moving weather kind of day. The snow squalls blow in for just 5 minutes, then they would be gone and 20 minutes later another one would come in, this repeated most of the day. This kind of weather is what I love. It lends itself to my style of art and photography.
I sat with this scene for longer than necessary. I had my chair here, vehicle close by, up high on a dirt road. I photographed the varying light and rays but to gather more information. But, I had a vision for this image when standing here. And I brought that vision to life in the field and on the computer during editing.
This image showcased the Hungry Horse and Spotted Bear Wilderness in northern Montana. The Larch trees were in full autumn swing, showing their colors of yellow and orange, mostly yellow in this case. The older trees you see are also Larches but they were a few weeks out from changing their color to match the young ones.
The light rays came in and the background are all mountain peaks, circumnavigating the lake and rivers that feed it.
